Caribbean Youth honored with Queen's Young Leaders Awards


On Monday 22nd June 2015 at Buckingham Palace, nine (9) Caribbean youth were among a group of special individuals selected to be honored during the first presentation of Queen's Young Leaders Awards.


According to their official site, "The Queen's Young Leaders programme discovers, celebrates and supports exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth, leaving a lasting legacy for Her Majesty the Queen".

Last year, the programme launched its search for the most exceptional young people in the world between the ages of 18-29 and received hundreds of applications but only sixty (60) persons were selected to win the award.

Until 2018, specifically sixty inspirational youth leaders will be chosen to receive the Award to commemorate the number of years that The Queen served as Head of the Commonwealth when she celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Kellyn George    - Dominica
Leroy Phillip      - Guyana
Jerome Cowans  - Jamaica
Nicole Nation     - Jamaica
Javon Liburd      - St. Kitts & Nevis
Kenville Horne   - St. Vincent & Grenadines
Teocah Dove      - Trinidad & Tobago


Congratulations to all the winners and the runners-up from the Caribbean as well as the rest of the world. Every one of you should be proud of your achievements.



Applications to become a 2016 Queen’s Young Leader will open on 22nd June 2015.
