Nevis, also known as the "Queen of the Caribees", is one of two islands that make up the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is a very small, volcanic island (36 sq. mi.) in the Caribbean lying just South East of the dominant island of St. Kitts and almost entire island contributes to a single mountain called Nevis Peak. The island retains much of it's natural flora and fauna with dots of human development. The special appeal of the island probably prompted the building of the Caribbean's first hotel there in 1778.

Although tourism is the major industry on the island, the ease of access to the island via airlift has always been a challenge according to the Nevis Island Administration. This has led them to an agreement with Caribbean Helicopters Ltd. to facilitate a new flight operating from or through the island of Antigua to Nevis.
The aim is to make experiencing the natural beauty and historic sites of Nevis more convenient for visitors and locals alike. This is great news for any naturalist or outgoing person with an interest in travelling to the Caribbean! Nevis has beautiful scenery that turns taking a walk into a breathtaking experience and hot springs infamous for their therapeutic properties. For such a small place, there is surprisingly quite a bit to see and do so the ability to add this little stopover to a trip to Antigua & Barbuda could be well worth your travel dollars if you have it in the budget.
Caribbean Helicopters Ltd. made its inaugural flight to Vance W. Amory International Airport in Nevis on February 20th 2015 and will be operating twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays for now. The flight reportedly takes just 15 minutes.
Will the introduction of this new flight really make a difference to the new arrivals to Nevis?
